#1
Hello Everyone, I have been reading this forum for some time now. I noticed that they is not much information on the bayou. I have a 1990 kaw. 300 4x4 bayou and something keeps draining the battery after about 2 or 3 days of sitting. Can anyone point me in the right dirrection on what to check? Also , are they any information on the bayou on other web sites that I can check? Thanks for the help on some other things I have had to get info. on for the bayou.

I suspect 4 components:
1). Voltage Regulator - but usually the battery goes low/dead while riding because it can't keep up the charging. Check battery voltage while idling which should be 13.5 VDC or higher.
2). Stator - Internal short would drain the battery while just sitting. Alos, it would produce less current output.
3). Ignition switch - Internal short would drain the battery while just sitting.
4). Wire Harness - Shorting to ground/chassis. This will be a difficult one to locate the exact location. Check under the seat and especially near the frame tube where excessive rubbing/wear might have occurred.
