HELP! I own a 2000 Kawa Bayou 300 2wd and like playing in the mud, climbing, and basic riding. My problem is the thing just top centers to easy.I need ground clearance.I have called many companys about lift kits to no avail.Am I the only person in the world who wants to lift a 2wd atv?Everything is for 4wd and they say that there is no way it would work on a 2wd.Im already planning on going to 12 inch wheels and 25 to 26 inch tires but what else can I do?
Any ideas anyone??

A lift kit will only increase ground clearance on the front of your Bayou anyway. Only larger tires will increase ground clearance in the rear. A lift kit may permit mounting larger tires than without.

"Mud" tires on the front won't help much, since your quad is 2WD. The Bayou has lots of clearance to start with; 25-27" tires ought to fit the rear without any problem; I wouldn't invest in anything bigger for a 2WD; the front will take bigger tires, too; extremely wide tires will require spacers.

I had a bayou 300, and put larger and wider tires on the rear (needed spacers), but couldn't ever change the front. My friend groung clearence is everything, so if you can put a larger dia tire up front that will be your best bet! Be carefull with tire selection though as after market tires are mostly four ply or six ply plus more rubber in a larger tire equals more wieght. This extra weight will rob power from your bike. My '96 300 was way down from the power I had with stock tires.
In the end the 300 was a great bike.......but got tired of being hugh centered so I traded in for a 2001 praire 300!

Good luck

I like top end just as much as the next guy but I am more wooried about torque. Will the bigger tires sacrifice low gear torque??
When im in a mud whole thats really thick and nasty I am mainly in 2nd gear and i need pulling power.
Thanks for the great responses
