Any significant problems with the 2005 750 Brute Force

I'm considering buying a 750 Brute Force that's in the local paper. It has less than 2000 miles, winch ITP wheels with new looking Mud Lites. I currently have a 2005 BRP Outy Max 400. Obviously, power could be better, but it's fine for the trails. I need something that can scare my brother on his 800 Outy. I think I can get it for $7000 Canadian. Probably close to $12000 for a new one with the wheels and tires. Are there any common problems with this particular model?

Damn good machine. I ride the crap out of mine with racin at mud runs and stuff and mud is hard on stuff and water. Only probs i had with mine is that wire connector which is warranty, and I had to do the steering stop recall which is a warranty also. I noticed one of my front diff seals is leakin but its just all the hard mud ridin. From the factory, some of the 750's had a carb recall with the front carb. They give ya a different needle thats smaller for more fuel. They arent jetted right from the factory so I would rejett it. They run bad. The things i hate about the 750's are the stupid plastic skid plates, and the airfilter is junk. Get a k&n with a precharger and that'll fix that prob. There is soo much you can do to them to get more power out of them so you'll be able to kick some **** with it. But they are still awesome in stock form. Bigger tires are a must too. Then you'll be unstoppable in the mud pretty much. 27's will fit with no prob.

I bought a 750 BF new in 05 and love the machine. The ride is awesome when out all day but it is a bit of an adjustment getting used to the independent suspension for cornering... The only issues I have had with mine is it backfiring on occasion and it dies when running along and stopping fast. I have made idle adjustmests but it doesn't seem to help. I have had the thing in the shop on regular services and have told them about these issues for the last three services. Only to get it back and have the same problems. I didn't know about the carb issue as previously posted but I would expect that would have been caught on this last service a couple weeks ago... maybe I shouldn't assume.
Has anybody had these issues? Outside of these nuisanses I really like the bike. It has LOTS of power and easy to ride.

All the 750's I work on, I tell the customer it needs to be rejetted. The newer ones run better than the 05's but I just mention it to them on the newer ones. Most just use theirs for work so they dont notice the run prob. Kawi said on the taper needle recall just do the recall if the customer complained about the back fire. All my friends that have one use theirs for mainly trail ridin and muddin so the recall has already been done. By the way, if anyone wants to see a bad lookin BF750, check out the new dirtwheels issue! OMG! I am jealous now over that one. BF900!! lifted with mudzillas and ITP rims, snorkels and CHROME!!

I like the power and ride but, 4x4 takes too long to engage, and doesn't take much to bend the frame (front top A arm mounts). I work at a deal and have replaced one frame and hade 2 other people straighten theres.
My vote is either a 800 can am or a 660/700 grizzly.

Have you looked at the frame in the front. There is no bracing on the top rear A arms, no way to brace it either the diff is in the way.
One of the guys at work has one and he bent his, I told him how to straight it. The guy that I installed a new frame bent his same thing. I guess a fourwheeler tech that has seen this cann't be trusted.

I've got the 05 750i with a set of 28" Mudzillas. A couple of times in an off camber position my locking differential failed to engage. LIke I said it has only happened a couple of times but it was a little embarrassing, because all the guys I ride with saw it. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Also is there a fix for it.
