Rope a dope' - Synthetic Winch Ropes'
#1
Anybody offer any info on synth. winch ropes?
my cable needs replacing, but I am very intersted in getting the synthetic rope. I have a 2K winch and want to know how tough are they? how do they hold up to getting wet and drying? Do they real up nicely??
Any info/comments would be great....
Thanks!

they are strong, but not very tough. you have to be careful of any sharp or rough edge. no problem with water. they are harder to get on the winch in full, even layers, but that is just a cosmetic thing.
lots of guys like the synthetic. i personally prefer cable for the durability around rock, but there is nothing wrong with going either way.

I have synthetic rope from masterpull on my warn and so far so good. The syn rope is much easier to handle and is safer to use than wire. So far mine has held up well. You should use a hawse fairlead instead of a roller and make sure to use the protective sleeve around anything rough. Water doesn't seem to affect it at all so far.
