02' Lakota not wanting to start!!!!
#1
We just bought a used 02' Lakota Sport, and it's started mulitple times since we've had it, only had for about 3 days. But, today when we went to start it, it refuses to start. We put the engine on run, got the parking brake on, the quad in nuetral, the fuel is on, the choke all the way to the right, we've tried to start it over a period of an hour or so, letting it sit for some small time intervals. But when we push the starter it just whines, and doesnt start at all, pretty sure it's not flooded, have absolutley no idea what to do. Please provide assistance.

on the lakotas. iyour gastank has to have atleast a half of tank of gas for your tank turned on.at a half a tank in it....if it is below half ....turn the tank on reserve.
try that and tell me if starts.

Nope that didnt work, we drained out all the gas, then put a full tank in it, and it still didnt want to start. We're thinking it may be a spark plug problem, cuz its got plenty of gas, the filters are all clean, it's got oil, it's got err'thang that it needs. We shall find out on Monday. Thanks for the advice. If you have anymore, feel free to inform.

SPARK PLUG!!! These machines eat spark plugs. Our Lakota has two spares always in the tool box. My neighbor ripped his apart for two days trying to fix his Lakota. I bought him a new plug and it fired up....bad plug didn't even looked bad! Tempermental when it comes to plugs....

hmmmm, i wouldnt say that they eat plugs but check the plug. I bet its all black and wet, just replace it and the bike should fire right up.

my lakota eats plugs. We were up in the mountains one time and at a friends cabin. He had an old 199x lakota that he said it just simply wouldnt work. Based on the look of the machine I think it was pretty worn out and beaten up. We looked at the plug and it looked fine. we tried pulling it, manual start, electric start, checked filter, everything we could think of... even tried starting fluid. We decided to double check the spark and realized it wasnt even sparking (just to be extra sure we got someone that didnt know squat about engines to hold it while we cranked it-he didnt jump) I pulled one of my spares from my bike and it fired right up. Just like scottphillips88 I always keep extras on hand.

Yeah, i figured it'd be the plug, thanks for all the advice, it's made an awesome impact on helping us. Will probably buy a couple plugs to have them on hand. Thanks a ton. Dan
