99 Prairie 400 - no reverse
hey hows it going
okay, so ive got a 1999 Kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4, automatic.
Problem is, it will go in the forward gears just fine, although as soon as u put it in reverse, the red reverse light on the dash comes on, although the quad will not move anywhere. it seems as if its still in neutral, although by the looks of things all the linkages seem to be moviing just fine. I tried searching and saw that some other people have encountered similar problems with these models, although none of them had responses on their posts, so it didnt help me out too much. I was just wondering where to begin looking and what to do to fix it.
thanks a lot for any help u can give me

back on my 98 when I had no reverse my rev overide was the problem, but the thing backfired and complained in reverse. I know that linkage system has a lot to be desired and if it's well used it probably needs work. Does your low range work or does it hop? Pop the clutch cover off and see if it's starting to engage and slipping.

All the other gears work fine, both low range and high range both work perfectly, and in reverse it makes no noises at all, its just as though its in neutral. I heard that theres a chain in there used just for reverse, so im thinking maybe its that chain that i may have snapped, but I'm not too sure where that chain is located or where I would look for it.
I've also tried hitting the override button while trying to reverse and it seemed to make no difference
thank you very much for the reply
