First Ride on my new KFX 450
#1
Just got the new black KFX 450.I love it I am still in the break in stage but it flew through my jumps with ease.It held its own in the open fields with a 2003 piped and air boxed Predator.I also rode around a little against a 2007 LTR 450 with the guts removed from the pipe.It held it own there also.I didnt really even get into it too hard and it pulled through the corners really well.I will be posting some pictures of it tomorrow.I went to the PBR Bull Riding in Binghamton and didnt get pics done.My dealer still has 13 of them in stock.6999 for the black one.
Do any of you know what they are going to use for pipes and air box mods? What about the computer?

My buddy bought one yesterday evening. He had to work today, so I spent the morning riding his new machine! Keep in mind it is brand new, bone stock, and neither the engine or suspension are broken in.
I loved the steering....it tracks very nice. They obviously tuned it for the track and not the trail, so the suspension was stiff and even harsh at times. Front suspension was workable, but the rear suspension was a disaster. I was getting bucked to the moon on every whoop, but again it isn't broken in and it isn't adjusted for me (needs way more rebound damping for my riding style).
The stock motor seems way corked up. It sure doesn't have anything close to the hit in the middle that the Honda 450 has, so that actually makes it easier to ride. It would wheelie, but not as easily as I would like, but with some motor mods more power might fix that. To me, it felt a lot like the YFZ, but with a little bigger and more stable feel.
Hard to start and very very cold blooded, even tough it has FI.

Hi,I had similair starts cold blooded. The whoops just stay on the gas.LOL I didnt have a big problem with the suspension but I am 200 lbs,I will post some pics and ride it more tomorrow. All motors are corked in stock form. With a pipe and air box and a good map this thing is going to rip.

This motor will actually lug a little, so it might make a descent fast trail quad. The one thing I don't like about the other 450's is that they are all rev, and it's a pain to ride them on a trail without having to do a lot of clutch work.
The frame is real interesting on this machine, especially up front where it isn't much more than just a spar. Interested to see how it holds up.....

If you look at the KFX 700 its not much different in terms of the front other than it looks to be better built. The 700 is really narrow up there also and has been for some time.I am 200 lbs and I was jumping it pretty good we will soon know if it will hold or not.I have a pretty good table top and a bunch of little jumps and corners all on three acres and two long fields where I ride with the LTR 450 and a 2003 Predator. My plan is to ride this a bit stock while they work on the pipes and comander box and air then pipe it and comander it.I am going to take some pictures today you will see them soon,
