I've got a friend who has a 700 Raptor. From what I've seen they are great bikes and very fun to ride. I love my prairie but if I were in the market for a sport bike I would choose the Raptor too. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Don't bet on the Raptor being much faster, although it is much lighter. I have an 04 V-Force K&N, is the only modification, and I have a friend who has a 07 700 Raptor GYTR, has the GYTR exhaust, and he is about 2mph faster on top end speed. I can get him big out of the hole, then around the time he hits 4th gear, he has closed the gap, and in 5th he starts to pull ahead, and there is approx. 2 mph difference. I am actually going to take them to the drag strip this weekend, and check the top speed for both to get a definate measure.

Why not check out the new kawie 450??? I just read the review in QUAD magazine and they are saying it is the one to beat now.

I understand, the need for a lighter bike that shifts (because all your friends have shifters) is inticing. We'll miss you, report back when you've had soom seat time... Good luck and ride safe..
