3010 Mule only runs on choke!
#1
My mule has been good to me, 700 hours and no problems until now. This past weekend driving along normal speed, the thing just bogged down and would only idle. The minute you hit the skinny pedal it would just bog and shut off. I managed to work the choke and get it running fine with out the choke for another couple hundred yards. Then on my way back to the cabin it did it again and it only runs half @ss on choke now. I took off the intake etc to the point where I could spray carb cleaner straight into the carb, it would run good for about 5-10sec. I haven't taken the carb off yet to dig into it. Is there anything else hidin that may cause this? This machine has seen plenty of abuse, I have sunk it in water twice but that was a couple of months ago, and there wasn't any water in the cylinders that time. I guess another question would be do they make any after market carbs if I ruined this one? Thanks for any help.

About only two things that will cause this.
99% of the time it's going to be a clogged main jet. The only real way to clean it is take the carb apart and clean it.
The other 1% of the time is going to be a vacuum leak of some sort after the carb.
Go for the odds...........take the carb apart and clean it.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Just out of curiosity, why is there a coolant line that runs into the carb? </end quote></div>
If it's what I'm thinking about, it keep the carb from icying up in cold weather. In cold weather when high speed air passes through the carb that air will have water vapor in it. This water vapor will freeze on and in the carb. The coolant running through it will prevent this.

I'm also think, while I'm at it doing all this work, that I'll do some more upgrades. I was thinking about ordering a K&N air filter, a clutch kit and a speed kit (adjustable governor) Anybody have any experience with any of those upgrades?
