I replaced the front cv boot on my 650 and when I did I serviced the CV joint and reinstalled and when I put the tires back on it and let if off the jack the CV joint pops out of the gear box about a 1/2 inch and will not stay engaged. I disassembled and reassembled 2 times putting new C clips on the end of CV shaft before installing. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what can I do to fix this. I need some help with this.

Just curious, do you have the new knuckes installed on your Prairie yet (there was a recall for all Prairie 650/700s a few years ago? If not, you should check to see if the ball joints (or whatever they are called) that go into the knuckle are wore out. If they are wore out, it might cause excess slop in the cv axle (where it connects to the front diff). I hope that made sense.

If you never had the recall work done (replace the knuckles and lower a-arms), now is probably a good time to have it done anyway.

Happy trails...

Send a pm to Hayashi. I have the same year, make and model as you do and everytime I have a problem w/mine, his solutions are ALWAYS correct. If he doesn't answer your pm, wait awhile and he'll see your post and will reply to it. I myself wouldn't trust anyone else's replies other than his. He's saved me thousands of $$. By the way, do you have the service manual?

Quadzilla420,

We are all here to help...not sure why it is that you wouldn't consider helpful advice from anyone by 1 person!?! That sounds a bit closed-mined to me when so many other folks are very knowledgeable about working on a Prairie.

By the way, you can find the answers to most common questions about repairing or modifying a Prairie 650/700 by reading the Prairie tech tips at www.nyrocatv.com

PS - I've owned a 2002 P650, a 2003 P650 and now a 2004 Twin Peaks (same as the Prairie 700). I'm no mechanic, but I think I know my way around a Prairie fairly well by now. I don't see what is so wrong with taking my advice.

Happy trails...

Didn't mean to rain on your parade MikeyBoyesq, just passing along the help of someone else. I had no intensions of selling your ideas out. No one has ever came up with the right answers to my problems but Hayashi. That's why I mentioned him. That's what the forum is for, "everybody's ideas". Just sharing who helped me out the most on the '03 Prarie 650's the most and only with the right answers, "the 1st time". Sorry if I came across the wrong way to ya.

I see that you don't have enough posts yet to pm someone. I think (not sure) you have to have a certain amount of posts before you can "pm" someone. One of the other users that's been here longer might be able toi answer that Q for you better than I.
