I picked up a Bayou 300 4x4 recently. Regardless of what gear it's in, the neutral light remains on. I'm guessing that the switch controlling the light must be disconnected or broken. Does anyone here have any experience with this problem? Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking you have a bad neutral switch. Actually it is a combo switch of Neutral and Reverse function, 2 swtiches in one assembly, which is located on the left side of engine where your left lower leg would be as you are sitting on the quad. To find the switch, just follow two wires coming from the neutral/reverse lamps, one is light green (Neutral) and the other is Red/Wht (Reverse) wire but they are in black vinyl protective tube. The switch assembly is held by two small screws (5mmx14mm) on the left side of engine. Sometimes just removing and cleaning w/ contact cleaner and reinstalling the switch fixes the problem. The swtich sometimes gets stuck in closed postion (light on always) and would not open up (light off).
