plastic fenders
#1
I have a real problem with the prairie300 fenders geting all scratched up, my 2001 model looks like its 2 years old already and I am carefull, trying not to let limbs and things get against the fenders. Why is the plastic so soft its really terrible. If you take a look at yamaha's kodiak, the plastic is all shiny and seems to be better quality. Is there any way to prevent scratching........can the scratches be removed?

My Prairie 300 looked like dammit 2 weeks after I got it. I was REALLY careful. If a limb was hanging in the trail I would dodge it or cut it down, but my wheeler still got scratched. I think pretty much all of them do. I've got a buddy with a green 450ES and it looks like crap. The plastic has a thin gel-coat on it which is easily scratched. A product called Plastic renew is supposed to work but I haven't tried it. Also it's better on the plastic to spray the mud off instead of trying to wash it off with a cloth. This will just scratch it up even worse. Another thing is the coloring of the plastic. Dark colors like green or blue show up scratches better than red or yellow. That is one reason I chose the red over the green on the Prairie.
