I have been looking for a Tecate4 for some time now. After getting tired of looking, on Dec 29th I bought a new 2001 400ex and really like it. As luck would have it, yesterday I came upon a Tecate4 that was completely original, I mean ALL STOCK! It has factory green plastic that is not cut up or broken, stock pipe, factory wheels silver frame, black motor ECT... and never raced. I had to buy it. Now, the soon to be wife says "one or the other"! I can't keep both. I know if I sell the 400ex I will lose a ton of money, but I want the Tecate also. What do I do. I just paid $5600 for the 400ex and $3200 for the Tecate4. This Tecate is as nice as I will ever find in stock condition, I will never find another like it. It starts on the first kick every time!
I will most likely sell the T4, because I will lose a ton on the 400. Please help a fellow Kawasaki fan out, tell me what you would do?

 

If you are not married yet and she is already telling you what you you can't and can not buy, I would have a talk with her and tell her your not gonna have your life run for you. My wife just asks me to let her know before I buy somthing expensive. As long as I can afford it, I can have it. It also helps that we split all bills and keep our play money seperate. Now, If you pay all the bills, she can't say a damn thing.

 

But, if you do end up selling the T4 I would be interested in buying it from you. I live in MI.

 

I'd give bad advice; keep both. Both are equally bad rides but like you said you may never find another Tecate like it. The 400EX is bad but you can always get one later. As for the money we all take a beating in this game.

 

exclusivity.....no matter what, keep the tecate4. i would get rid of both my bikes for a t4 in that condition!!!

 

After a lot of thought, I have decided to keep the 400ex. The reason I bought it in the first place was for "reliability" not "pure speed", my choice for "pure speed" was either a Banshee or a Teacte4. I had a Tecate4 a while back and loved it, and is still one of my favorite "badass" bikes! This T4 flies! It is alot faster than my 400ex. I am going to sell it for $3500, I have a lady from columbus who has already offered $3200. I want $3500 firm (otherwise I will keep it) if you are interested, email me for a pic. I am from Yougstown Ohio.

Seems kind of silly to sell the Tecate. Why did you buy it in the first place? If anything sell the Honda. You won't lose that much on it but if it is an option I'd keep both. The Honda for everyday trail riding and the Tecate for those "special" rides.

 

The Tecate must not have meant too much to you. If I were you I'd give the 400EX to my wife so she could ride with me on my Tecate.(HINT, HINT)If she doesn't go for that sell her!

Man is it that January is a bad month for quads and girlfriends? My girlfriend found out about My Tecate 4 <kind of hard to hide> and said the same thing yours did keep my 400ex or sell the Tecate Im making the same descion that you have to and trust me its hard. As mine is in really good shape too argggh this is one of the toughest descion Ive had to make. You might be seeing either of my quads on ebay in the next little while.
