Default prairie 650

ok so in the paper i see this 650 that needs work so i call and they tell me that they dont really know what is wrong with it. so i ask if it runs and it does. so i as if it moves and they say it doesnt they put it in gear and it wont move. so im kinda hopeing its the belt and/or clutches cuse that doesnt cost to much and probly would need to be done any how. but could the transmission be broke. and if so how much would that cost to replace. they want 1500 for it im hoping to get them down to 1000. or less. tell me what you think please.
thanks

See if the seller would let you do this:
Remove the CVT cover. Start the engine and shift the gear to forward and reverse. And watch the drive converter which is directly connected to the crank's right side end. See if the drive converter (pulley) rotates CW (forward) and CCW (reverse) at idle rpm. If OK, get it for <1500. If not, walk away.
