Default KFX400 vs KFX450r

I just got a 400 a few weeks ago and love it. I wanted and drooled over the 450r but I just couldn't bring myself to hand over that cash.

With the mods listed in my sig...would it be a decent race or are they that bad ***? I wanna know if my purchase was worth it.

anyone have one or the other and laid em down?

my buddy had a 426ex built up pretty good, and it would beat a stock kfx450
by 1-2 lengths in 300 ft.

The 450s are all pretty fast stock, but mild in comparison to what they can be.......

A z400 with mods will run with a stock 450 pretty well. It probably won't win, but it will be right there......

Of course if you mod the 450 with the same goodies they will stomp anything....

yeah they are pretty good quads from what I've heard. I love the looks of the Kawi, specially the black/green model.

what do alot of the 450's top out at speed wise? (estimate) 70-80?

That's the only thing about the Kawi quads I don't like with the 5 speed trannys. I wish they would throw another gear in there for top end cruisin.

A stock kfx450 got me by a front wheel all through the gears. In the woods I leave him after his pipe and add ons.

interesting.... I've read in a few mags that the 450r def could use a front sprocket before anything.

did you buy your mods in a kit? or seperately? When I was looking at them, I was checking out mods on a few sites and I didn't see a hole lot out there for them yet. I didn't honestly look that hard, but what I did find was expensive as all hell imo.

I guess it's the same when it comes to cars. The hobby is expensive, but throw fuel injection in, and it's even more expensive.

I haven't heard much, but does any one make a new injector kit for them yet? or cams, big bore kits...ect? Or is it too early in their life cycle still...?

ya the 15t was 1 of my 1st mods

Nop no kit, I got my pcIII, which handels your fi for a great price, but was in testing @ the time...now there is a few fi maps out there to loook @, but the best way to tune is on the dyno, if the dude calls me back lookin to go on saterday...

injector kit?? no idea what that is... Cams for sure, the quad motor is the same as 450 DB...the quad is almost the same, but which you can use both ex/cam & intake/cam in the quad, The BB'S are just getting the bugs worked of them, but I have seen a kfx w/ port/polish/head/stage2cams/fuelatv, intake/pipe/header/ put down 50'ish HP #'s

LOL Ya I know what a injector is, but what is a injector kit??? If you have fi the injector should beable to handal just about any amount of fuel you want to pump in to it, as far as I know atm theres no biger injector, for the quad, if U were to boar out the thottle body you would get a bit more out of it, from the flow of gas/air into it,

IMO the kfx is very corked up oem, upgrade to the ''BIG3'' or as I would say the big 5, mods fuelatv,intake/Dasa,pipe,header/PCIII/15t,front/34t,rear & you will be more then happy w/ the upgrade...As far as last weekend went & the ride I had, not sure if I want to even ride the Z again.....
