usually when my light comes on steady its just because kawasakihas it programed to come on every so often. if i start hearing nioses,it starts shifting wierd,or something doesn t feel right then i will pull it apart and check her out.sometimes there is just alot of dust inside and needs 2 b blown out.if my light starts flashing/time 4 new belt .i run my wheelers hard and on my 750bf 2005 ihave only changed 3 belts in 6000miles engine still in good shape w/good compression

Steady belt light comes on every 100-hr as a maintenance reminder, and it does not affect engine running.
Flashing belt light means there is a trouble in the CVT system (switch got tripped) and it is a hard error, and the ecu goes into limp-home mode. Either way, you need to inspect the CVT/belt. It's like CHECK engine light in your car. You can shut it off one way or another, but you need to fix the problem what caused the light to come on. For the flashing belt light, usually it is caused by too loose/worn out or broken belt (then no limp home - you go no where). You don't need to always replace the belt as long as the width is in spec. You just have to remove a shim or two and make the belt tighter. If the pulley sheaves are worn out, it will also give you too much belt deflection.
