Hello there, and let me guess. You have power to your lights and accessories but no starter engagement? Is that correct? Before this problem developed, did you have any problems with a clicking sound under the seat? This is caused by a faulty solenoid if so and can be cleared up by running a loop around it. If this isn't your problem or doesn't sound familiar, you need to take your ground cable loose from the crankcase and ensure it is making a good, clean connection. I've had this problem before. If however you go through all these steps and still can't get any life out of your starter, take it off and check it. A pair of jumper cables on a good hot battery will do. Attach the ground cable to the boby of the starter and strike the post with the hot end of the cable. You can actually do this while it is still on the bike. If you can get still nothing from your starter, take it apart and inspect it. Trust me, it's alot more cheaper than buying a new one. A problem I have also had was a magnet detaching from the inner workings of the starter and lodging itself against the field causing the starter to not turn. This, contrary to what you will be told from a dealer, can be reattached. I used pvc pipe cement over a year ago and it still holds up. By the way, what year model is this one? I have had this one for 5 years with very little problems unlike the rest of my junk collection. I find them to be almost indestructible. Another problem could be starter brushes, but I doubt it.
