Which Timing Marks?
#1
hi,
once again i need the help of the great people in atvconnection.com my question is that when i went to set the engine on TDC i noticed there were a couple marks on the flywheel. one mark has a T stamped right beside it( guess that would be TDC
but there were a couple(2-3) marks just ahead of the T mark. what do those marks before it mean? i've heard that engines should fire a couple degrees before TDC, is that what these are for? basically what marks do i use when setting the timing? thanks for all the help on this long process.

If these are true marks on the flywheel, they are probably degree marks that are used for timing the spark. In other words, they indicate a given number of degrees before TDC.
The TDC mark is best used to adjust the valve tapping clearances which are always referenced to this mark.
