Tecate 4 synthetic oil for break in??
#1
Can you use synthetic oil when you break in new rings? I know that on 4 strokes you aren't supposed to. I'm kind of new at this 2 stroke stuff. Also, this is kind of a dumb question but, How tight should the exhaust springs be that hold the pipe onto the cylinder. I am concerned about the springs pulling through the aluminum on the cylinder. Thanks in advance.

I would say the same logic would hold true for the rings in a two-stroke. Most engine designers feel that synthetics inhibit the "bedding" of metal surfaces during the break-in period. Bedding is the process by which imperfections in the construction of a metal part (For example, due to gravity it is impossible to produce a perfectly round surface.) are worn away leaving a closer-to-perfect form. I see no reason why rings would be any different. In fact, they may very well be the parts that depend most on bedding.

Just keep in mind that differences will not appear until long after the break-in period. The rings, rod bearings and camshaft are more likely to last longer in the engine that was handled properly during break-in. In other words, they will produce higher levels of horsepower when other engines begin to fail.

I have 3 tecate 4's make shure the oil you use is for a power valve or kips motor such as H1R by Bel-Ray or if you have a favorite use that mine is Ben~ol by klotz i use H1R on occassion so power valves dont stick this is more critical for trail riders than WOT riders go to CT RACING for a tech artical on break in for 2 strokes, Air filter is the most important for any brand longivity.
