Default Brute Force: LOOSENING Steering Connection

I have a 2006 Brute Force 650i. There are two rods that connect the front wheels to the coupler on the steering column. They are held together with 2 jam-nuts and a cotter pin. One of these nuts loosened. I tightened it up (had to pull the cotter pin to hold the BOLT because it spins). After about 2 hours of riding, it loosened again.

Is this a common thing, or is the jam-nut one of those things where it's a "one-time" use? If it loosens, does that mean that its compromised, and time for a new one?

And the fact that the bolt spins - is that normal?

My 05 Brute 750 is in the shop now for a tie-rod recall that i guess is common. May want to talk to youre dealer to see if the recall applies to your model too.

That recall is for the ball/socket joint being loose.
The OP's issue is the jam nut coming loose, not the same problem.
Try applying thrad locking agent.
