1995 Kawasaki Bayou won't start

I have a 95 Bayou 300 2x4 ran good, sputtered and quit, changed plug, ran, quit again and tried to restart and it backfired and now won't start at all and has no spark. Any suggestions? Thanks!

sounds like something in the electrical system. almost like a CDI/ignition going out

I agree, A buddy seems to think it might be the stator. Thanks for the reply.
