Mojave voltage regulator

At high rpm's the alternators (thing that generates electricity) output can reach 70-80 volts. At this voltage the alternator would melt (brushes) and you would fry the battery.
The batterys voltage should be 12.6v with no surface charge. The regulator will limit to 14.4v, as this stops the battery from gassing / shedding too much. If possible you're better off charging the battery up to 15.3v every so often. You will have to top it up fairly regularly.
If it's agm / gel don't over volt it (stick to 14.4), as you ruin it.
