Default 1997 prairie 400 oil leak

There oil leaking were the recoil starter bolt to the engine. I dont know if the gasket on the recoil is leaking. Is there suppose to be oil there or is there a seal that is leaking oil into that area. Any help would be appreciated

There shouldn't be any engine oil in the recoil starter unit. It could be a seal leaking around the crank shaft bearing. I would take the recoil starter off and see if you can tell where the oil is coming from. Good Luck!
