I have a 2001 Prairie 400 4x4 which I enjoy for a whole lot of reasons. However, I have a pesky problem. It is cold where I live and the atv starts easily and runs fine. But when I shut it off for a bit, start it, it doesn't want to idle. Ihave to rev it up for a a couple of minutes and then it's ok. How come? Any comments would be helpful! I have been told that others have had this same problem with this atv.

I am not sure if this will help, but I own a 300 praire and it has an idle adjustment that you can tweak if you think its idling to slow. I found in the winter months I needed to turn the idle up just a bit to make it smoother. On the 300, the idle adjustment is a thumb screw located left side of the engine next to the compression release.
Hope this helps

After the break in period I had to idle mine up a little bit with that adjustment ****. My uncle had to do the same thing. Takes about 1/2 a second just turn it clockwise until you here a nice smooth idle.
If thats not the problem, then you need to start it with the choke ON until the idle starts to lope hard then just ease the choke off while giving it a little gas and it will be ready to roll.
