Prairie 400 questions
Hey guys, I have some questions. I recently bought a prairie 400 and a 650. The 400 has been taken care of and the 650 is ragged, see my thread on the 650. Well, I'm keeping only one of them. I ordered some 27s but am up in the air as to which one to keep. Is there any way to get enough power out of the 400 to be near the stock 650s power? I want something with the power to spin those tires and be able to trail ride. The 650 runs great but has been abused but the 400 is clean. Thoughts?

650 twins make 42.0 hp and weighs 604 lbs.
400 single makes 26.5 hp and weighs 598 lbs.
(It's only 6 lbs lighter, 1%, extremely insignificant).
Power difference is (42.0-26.5)/26.5=58% more that 650 has comparing to 400.
Just think what you have to do squeeze out 58% more power from a typical IC engine? Turbocharge, supercharge, big bore kit, etc? Even if you do all that (costing you mucho $$), how reliable the souped up 400 would be? Also, do some research to find how many power adding parts are avail for the 400. ZERO.
Not only that, think about all the technically advanced features on the 650.

It's just too bad that the 650 is beated. Still I think it makes more sense to restore the 650 than trying to souping up the 400.
