clutch adjustment 300 Bayou
Hi...I have a 91 300 Bayou 4x4 and my clutch is slipping....I searched this forum but can't seem to get a good answer on what the bottom screw does for the adjustment...My book says to turn the top screw counter clock wise until you feel resistance, and then turn 1/2 to 1 full turn more...Then turn the bottom screw clockwise to you feel resistance (aprox 1/2 turn it says) but mine goes right around, if I go the other way it goes right around to. There's no friction at all. Any ideas!!!

Unless your book is different than mine, it doesn't say anything about the (bottom) screw adjustment. It says the adjusting screw and lock nut on my book. Unless I'm reading your post wrong. You have to hold the bolt from turning, and tighten the lock nut. Here is an url to adjust the clutch. NorminN.B.

Hey guys, can anyone help me find out what the bottom screw on the Kawasaki Bayou's clutch adjustment does? I am working on one of these quads for a customer, and not knowing what the bottom screw is for is driving us both nuts. Is anyone able to tell me what it does, or where I could find out what its for? This quad is over 20 years old, and the clutch is slipping, I was planning on changing the clutch plates anyway, but we really want to know what this screw is for first. If you can help me out please do! Thank you guys : )

It's for adjusting pressure on the clutch plate bearing.Don't know if it's like most machines like this, but you loosen the lock nut(317),turned the screw(92009) in until the lever has a slight pressure on the bearing plate, then loosened the screw 1/8 turn. Then tightened the lock nut while holding the screw. This adjust free play.
