Hey there
I have a Kawasaki Bayou with a 400 .... and the electric start will not work

It kick starts and runs, but that is just a pain !!!

The solonoid works fine, and the starter enagages!
I pulled off the starter, to see that it works ... but it is not turning over whatever it is that will make the engine turn over !!!

Is there a gear that moves into place electronically? Or is it mechanical ???? !!!!
Please help~!!!!

This is my wife's bike and we are going away this weekend!!!!!!

so with the starter off of the motor, you hooked up jumper cables to it and the bendix operated and the starter spun? you said starter engages but won't turn the engine over?

 

Well ... what I did was leave the connection to the starter for power, ground it to the motor, and start it .....
and the starter spun with no problem!!

So it is either internal, or does the sleeve of the starter push out to engage the motor? then retract???
