Default 97 Prairie 400 4x4 clutch slipping???

Hello,

I'm looking to get a quad for plowing, and I found a 97 Prairie 400 4x4 full auto, for a decent price. The owner says the engine is real good, but the clutch slipping. He said when you put it into gear it takes a while to engage, and requires revving of the engine. He said he replaced the drive belt or something, but thinks it needs a tuneup or new clutch. He said it also pops out of gear in high, but not low or reverse.

I'm just wondering what this can be, and if it's even worth me looking at? I don't mind to repair it myself if I can, but I'm not sure how expensive it will cost.

Any advice or input on this machine, and problem would be appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

It's got minimum two problems.
1. Having to rev the engine to engage, even with a new belt, means either the current drive converter (>$500) is worn out (easy to check) or the newly installed belt is a wrong type (too long).
2. Popping out of gear is due to rounded dog gear for the HI trans. Need to split the case to replace it.
