99 Prairie 400- Will not idle
Hey guys,
I have a 99 Prairie 400 auto. and it sat up for a few months. i pulled it out and it will not idle if i turn the choke off. i rode it for a while to get it warm and still it will not idle.
i drained the old fuel and put new 93 octane in it with carb. cleaner. Checked the plug and it is good. it runs great at half choke, but any below that, it dies. i even turned the idle screw all the way up and it still will not idle. what do i do now??? thanks

Guys I had the same problem and did what you said, it improved but I took ALL of the jets out and think I have an adjustment issue with the AIR needle jet toward the front of the carb. I didnt check the setting prior to taking it out, so I put it back in two full turns from being completely screwed in tight, is this correct? It runs better on choke still and wont idle unless I keep tweaking the throttle with choke off. Thanks!

I screwed the air needle jet all the way in and no change. It runs GREAT on choke, but wont idle when the choke is off and it backfires alot with the choke off and I am keeping the throttle on. I am running lucas fuel treatment thru it along with shell 93 octane. Any help or suggestions would be grealy appreciated.

it will not even begin to idle off of choke.
I thoroughly cleaned the carb and all the jets.
On choke it idles but smokes alot, blue smoke
Off choke, lite throttle, no smoke, backfires when you let off, no smoke.
What could I be missing?
fyi...I rebuilt the on/off valve under the tank with new gaskets as well.
I thought backfires were due to excessive burning in the exhaust?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
