Default Mojve Problems

I recently bought a 89 mojave in rough shape, and not running. The carb was replaced by a different one so im told, and there is no air box. After popstarting it it ran wot, and pumping out a oil-water mixture from what looks to be the crankcase vent. I originally thought that it was maybe the head gasket, but its not leaking for the head. the oil is very brown and watered down. Any help with finding out what is making it pump this liquid and running wot all the time?

Thanks
MP

Watered down oil is not by water but by fuel.
When oil gets mixed with fuel, it looks like watered down.
When oil gets mixed with water, it looks like milk shake.

Thats what it looked like, a big brown milkshake. How would fuel get into the crankcase?

Leaking float valve in the carb bowl would let fuel flow into the cylinder and then into the crankcase.

What would cause it to pump out of the crankcase vent?

Exessive crankcase pressure.

As the crankcase oil level rises because of incoming overflowing fuel from carb, the total volume (oil & fuel mixed) increases. When engine is running the crankcase can't handle that much liqud volume and some would get pump out of there via the vent line.

You need to fix your carb leaking fuel into engine.
Also, need to check piston rings for proper sealing.

Wow, if that works, I would have never guessed that was the problem. Do you think that would cause it to run wot?

If I were you I would check EBAY for the proper carb and intake set-up and start from there. If someone replaced the carb with a different one than get rid of it!
