Was it just checked only or did you adjust the linkage?

The little red Brute got put to the test last weekend, with a very bolder strewn creek crossing. We had not been on this particular trail since last summer and a very bad flood had happened during the Fall. It washed out the creek crossing bad enough it was too deep to cross where we normally did and forced us to rock crawl over boulders 2-3 foot in diameter in shallower water.

I took my Polaris 500ho Touring across 1st, followed by a 4x4 Foreman and an old Yamaha 400; it was very rough and water still came up over the tires. My wife was riding the little Brute and I knew it would be too much for her to drive it across, so had brought her across on the back of mine and had to wade back across for the Brute. I has serious doubts about it getting across with out getting hung up on a boulder and expected to have to winch it across, but the damn thing crossed on the same track I had taken with the Polaris; I would have lost money on that bet.

I'll have some pics of the crossing to post up later, my buddy has not loaded them yet, but I do have a short vid of the canyon we were riding in.

Awesome scenery John
We hope to make it up north this wknd here in mi to take in some of natures wonders . Around home it's just flatland suburbia . We still make the best of it and have had some places that made us wonder if we could make it ?
Very impressed with these machines. Went through a spot that I knew was bad and went for it . Little bugger crawled right through it ! We had to make a few passes after that and we loved every min of it .

He's a few pics of us out so far

Well, we rode 40 miles on the mountain today and still could not locate the right trail head to get to an old abandoned locomotive steam engine we were looking for; we believe we rode down the wrong canyon. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time even with out finding the old steam engine, there were a few trails we had to turn around on due to high water on the crossings; we may have to wait until summer time to get access to the old engine. Here are a few pics of the ride....

P.S. The little Brute got 40 more miles put on her and even managed to get 30.7 miles to the gallon, on very steep trails, which beats my Polaris 500's 20 MPG by a long shot!

A few questions for those who done their PM's on the lil brute.
1.. is it necessary to take the foot board off to do the fluid change in the transmission ? I see theres enough room to remove the bolt , and as soon as the oil starts to come out it's full.

2.. im a bit confused about the transmission oil...
Is there a specific oil for quad transmissions ? It calls for SAE 90 wt.
90wt what ?? ??? it doesn't say..

I figure the rearend is non specific 80 wt gear lube .
In my sled's gearcase it calls for 80 wt and I run a mix of ATF and Lucas, reason for that is temps and color for leaks ,ATF is red and thinner for temps. I seen alot of 80wt get real thick when temps get below zero.
I'll just run what it calls for in the quads , don't think ill be riding them in below zero temps .

Yep we hit our break-in 1st time pm time and were ready to go on some wknd runs with them .

OH BTW ..Anybody else getting a little wetness from the drain tube from the carb bowl ? Checked the screw and it's tight , thinking of opening it up and re tightening it to see if it stops.
We have been getting them up on on end or another from some steep ditches
It's not a bad leak ..see a drip mark on the frame and the tube end is wet after riding . any ideas? , vent tube is ok..

I was able to do the service with out removing the floor board, it was tight, but not a show stopper by any means.

The transmission oil is SAE 90 wt and that is exactly what it is; it will say SAE 90 on the container, any oil with that spec will do just fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about a drip from the drain tube, like you mentioned, you can try reseating the drain screw.

Thanks John .
Went and pick up the stuff today at a local outdoor everything store that's been a icon for years . Real big on Harleys and dirt bike supplies , I buy alot of my sled stuff there too.

since I was green on brands and what not ..I got some help instead of guessing to save a few pennies and the wrong stuff

In the end I decided to go with amsoil . I know their good and I know the first pm is the most crucial .
For the trans and rearend they recommended a 75w-80 .
