02 kawasaki 650 2/4wd flashing
#1
recently i noticed i have dreaded 2/4wd flashing back and forth.. seen other posts with simaliar problem.. but in my case i notice i do not hear that lil noise that you hear when you turn your key on and off.. theres just nothing so was wondering if its the engine brake actuator and not the 2/4wd cause it will engage both to 4wd and 2wd..

Dealer sells a new one for $300+ (ouch!).
You can buy an used for about $100 or even less from eBay but you need to be careful. It may not have any visual damage/defect outside but can still give you the same 2/4wd light flashing problem. If you get some kind of assurance that the item is good from the seller (like no hassle money back), then it might be ok.

I just wanted to share my findings.
After following the manual and testing everything in it that could cause this, replaceing every part because the issue continued. Even went on line and read... did the buss connection... still the problem was there... after several hundred dollars on parts and many days of testing per the manual, i desided to test the continuity of all the wires from the controller to the actuators. this is very simple to do all the wire colors are in the manuel and easy to locate. I had simple ..... bad wire..... went to the auto supply, purchased two inline splices for #16 gage wire and about 3' of some number 16 gage wire.
The wire i could not get any cont. on was the Black/red tracer. this is the ground for the break actuator. This took about 30 mins to test and replace, and only cost me 3 dollars. But hey, I now have both actuators new, new controller, speed sensor, Forward and Reverse sensor. I just thought i would put this out there hoping to save someone else all this expence. And if anyone needs any of these parts...because all my original parts are all good.
