I always used KAWACHEM OIL for my atvs but just wondering what other oils there is out there that are a equal replacement such as does Valvoline have petroleum based 4 stroke oil and what weight would you recommend or would I be wise to stick to KAWACHEM OIL

Mudrunner, if you are buying oil for a belt driven 4 stroke ATV, then any good quality motor oil like you would use in your car should be fine for your ATV because you are only lubricating the engine. There is no need to pay through the nose for it. If you are talking about one that uses the same oil in the engine and transmission, you may be required to have different additives for the transmission wet clutch for best results in which case the ATV oil may be better. Ask the mechanic at your dealership. I have always used automotive oil in my old Honda dirt bike which I've had since new and have never had any transmission problems, but I know that some people would disagree with me as this topic was discussed on the forum before. The weight you choose should depend on the ambient temperature range you are operating in. It should tell you in your owners manual or your dealer can give you that information.
