Default 1987 (89?) Kawi 300 won't start

Hi. My first post

Never owned ATV before. Didn't even know how to start one or change gears etc.. Bought this one used. Beautiful condition. Need it for yard work. It was running fine once I learned how to start it. It is very fussy to start because it has to be in neutral and getting it there can prove to be a challenge. A friend showed me to shake the snot out of it by rocking it backwards and forwards - that works to get it in neutral. When I last parked it, I left it in neutral to avoid the exercise from shaking it.. I parked it two weeks ago. Went to start it again and No Go!
Battery was dead so I recharged it. May have accidentally bumped light switch on, but I don't think so. Lights good. It is in neutral. Key is on... and absolutely nothing happens when I try to start it.

Thanks in advance... Garth

I'll try to help you out. Sounds like you left the ignition on and the battery went flat or either you have some corrosion on the battery terminals. Lights don't require much power compared to the starter. Try cleaning terminals if no go get a new battery.
