Question clutch/engine brake problem.

I have a 2004 kaw prairie 360 4x4. Problem started a few months back when shifted into gear it is taking excessive rpm to engage the belt and when it does it lunges pretty good if your not careful. Once youve been riding for as while it doesnt really do it unless you sit for a minute and then go again. Now Once you start moving and the rpms are increasing it feels like perhaps the engine brake is holding you back then you hear a metal "clinking sound" and the quad then can go faster. Not sure wether a got 2 seperate problems or just one causing the other. Any help would be appreciated. I'm thinking the clutch needs pulled and worked on but Why the engine break is sticking...not sure.

I'm thinking that It's because the engine brake is really in the clutchs.
Like you stated, the clutchs need looking into.

little update here...I had the bike out for a brief run yestarday and as i pulled into the yard the bike felt like it started to free wheel and it shuttered, lunged and died. Now you can start it fine but when you put it in gear it lunges real hard and stalls out. Any idea what im looking for here once i pull the cover and clutch.

Ya, pieces falling out...LOL
Look up a parts fiche at a dealer site and you'll be able to see how it all goes together and what things look like.
It's one of those things that could be guessed on all day. Just gotta get in there and look.

so ive pulled the clutch and it looks like one of the rollers on the spider broke in half and the weight was stuck up there. The spider itself looks like it has a punch a small little stress fractures on it. So what am i better off doing, buying all these parts and rebuilding it or buying an aftermarket comet clutch?
