Brute Force 650 carb question
I am working on a friend's 650 Brute Force. '06 model I believe that he bought used.
Under the top cover, the spring that controls the slide has a plastic piece on the bottom that keeps the needle bottomed out in the slide. This is how it is in pretty much every carb I have worked on.
The rear carb has this plastic piece on the spring, but the front carb does not. One would think it is required so the needle stays down and meters fuel correctly. From what I can tell by looking at the screw heads on the carbs (we all know how people love stripping them out using junk screwdrivers, like Craftsman...) and the screws in the air box and such to get to the carbs, the carbs don't appear to have ever been apart.
The online microfiche I have found does not show parts of the front and rear carbs seperately, just showing a pic of one exploded. The picture does show the plastic "clip" on the spring.
Can anyone tell me if the front carb should have one as well or if there was a reason to eliminate it?
Thanks
