I was just wondering how many of you have had your 220 in deep water, I had mine out today and had tons of fun! my freind came over with his Bombardier 500 4x4. He only had to tow me out once though. In most spots, the water was up to the headlights, and mud about 9 inches deep. The trick is just to go in fast, and keep your momentum going, I could go everywhere he did, swamp and all. The only difference was that his quad was about 2x bigger than mine! Do any of you have any riding stories with your 220?

I sunk my '97 Bayou in deep (3 feet or so) of swamp water about six months after I bought it. I had traveled through the same spot twice before with no problem. The water was deep enought that the front of the quad was floating with the back wheels bouncing on the bottom. I would have made it a third time if it had not been for 80 pound wild pig I was carrying on the front racks. The extra weight kept the front end down which let water short out the plug. It would have probably been a piece of cake had I loaded her on the rear racks.

In any case, several oil changes later that same day and it ran and continues to run as good as new.

The 220 to me, seems to be sealed very well, I had no water go into the air box at all, or anything like that and the water was up to the headlights, and washing over the front fender. is there anything special I need to do since I've been riding in deep water? (and mud).

I had a Bayou 220 when i was about 14-16,and like a 14 year old,i treated it like crap. I drove it into a 10 ft deep swimming hole one time, but only went out far enough where the water was up to chest, the whole quad was submerged underwater. It sounded like a trolling motor underwater.....Man I loved that Bayou.....maybe i'll go get another 220 before i get a bigger one. Mine was indestructible.....except after my little brother screwed the tranny up.....LOL
