The later ones did. My 06 did. Clutch had to be adjusted right or it was a pita to use. Most times there was a hill or slope I could pull up and just roll backwards. Still remember the first time I thought using the front and rear brake was a good idea.

The LTZ400 is an extremely reliable machine a very trail capable, and a biggy for me...it's liquid cooled. As Scooter mentioned, the KFX 400 is a Suzuki as well and the same in reliabilty. Both of these has reverse....the older 400EX's did not, that was added some years after initial production.

A Renegade would be great but hard to find one of those for 4K. 400ex will be the best bang for your buck. You can put mud tires on the back and it will go pretty good in the mud as long as its not too deep. The light weight helps a lot too. Even if you do get stuck, you can still probably still muscle it out.
