Do the headlights work when the ignition is on but engine stopped? If not your main fuse may have gone, or a bad battery or earth connection. If the lights etc, do work, the voltage regulator may be allowing to many volts to the battery, check voltage across battery with engine running, voltage should not exceed 15v as you rev up. If this is the cause of your "running problem" the starter fault could be starter motor, solenoid, or the neutral lock-out circuit, or a wiring problem. I check by putting a 12v test lamp between starter live terminal and earth, ignition on, in neutral, press start button, if the lamp lights the starter motor is faulty, if it doesn't light but the solenoid clicks, faulty solenoid, if solenoid doesn't click, could still be faulty solenoid, or lock-out, start button, or wiring.
