Default Cdi boxes ??????

I have a kawasaki bayou klf 300, I think the cdi box is bad does anyone know if these are the same on different years or does it have to be for that year? mine is an 86 with small 2 small pig tails and I have seen some that look like mine online but say they are for different years. they are starting from 88 and going up not sure if it matters or not? any help would be great. I tried the bake it trick and the solder trick and it had no effect on it, still wont start. thinking about doing a whole rebuild but I don't think it actually needs a rebuild.

Easiest way to check it is to go to an OEM parts diagram and just start comparing the part numbers from different years and different models.

the early igniter is 21119-1193 don't know why the later ones have a different part number. KLF300s have DC ignition like a car, so I would guess at either the pickup coil being different, or perhaps just the wiring plugs. The two models do have different stators, someone on here swapped stators from a later model onto an 86 and had to do a lot of parts juggling to get it to work.

I have found 2 different styles one has a single plug and the other has 2 small plugs that match what mine already has. it is just the years that it says it will fit are different. mine don't have a part number on it, or maybe its just gone not sure. think I am going to get one that has the same ends on it and try it. most have a 30 day return on them. don't want to have to send it back thought. I got it to kinda start but it wont take any throttle before it starts spitting and backfiring through the exhaust. is there a recommended brand that don't cost to much?

Knew I had seen it on here recently, read this https://atvconnection.com/forums/kaw...magnets-2.html before going any further, about 3/4 of the way down page 2 is the important bit.
