Default Klf 300

HI Guys I have just been given a KLF 300 unknown year. I am having troubles trying to start it. I have a new battery and when I turn the key I get the green neutral light. But when I push the starter nothing no clicks or anything. I have tried the hand starter the motor turns but I cant get it to start. The guy that gave it to me had started it the week before he gave it to me so I am hoping its something simple like a connection.

Any help would be great thanks.

Make sure you apply brake, they sometimes put a brake safery on them. Check all connections, loose or corroded will cause loss of electrical power.

I just answered this for someone else https://atvconnection.com/forums/kaw...t-problem.html could be either solenoid, or lock-out wires to them, note you should get the faint click when you switch the ignition on in neutral, which indicates the solenoid in the rubber cover has clicked in.

Thanks I will check it out when I get home. Is the lock out on the brake on the front or rear brakes?.

I'm not certain you have a brake lock-out on the 300, but if it has, the brake light circuit will operate it, so if the brake light is on and the bike in neutral, the starter button should work.

Can't find the KLF300 wiring diagram, but the Lakota diagram shows brake lights as an option, and the switches don't work the lock-out, only the neutral light circuit does that on the Lakota. I suspect the KLF300 will be the same. Can't remember having to put the brakes on to start one, but don't work on them much now, as most Farmers have replaced their old KLFs with newer bikes.
