2002 Kawasaki paraire 300 2x4
So i got this from my father for free i just had to go drive 11 hr to get it. i replaced the carburetor and fuel tank fuel lines and battery. it has been sitting for 7 year in a shipping container and was not winterize or anything.so here is the issue now it starts great first hit every time. it shift into gear nd high and low and reverse but it will only hit about 4 mph and that is it it just hits a wall it revs kinda high but its like it hit a rev limiter or something with the belt or maybe the primary clutch is bad or could i just clean that part? and how much slack should the belt have on the cvt?i can almost flip it over half way. Oh and when its driving the rpm's get high the drop low then high then low really quickly i have a video but i don't know how to post or if i can post video on this site. any help would be appreciated

Owned a 2000 for 16 yrs, was an excellent machine! Get yourself a factory service manual, it has all the info you need. Sounds like your clutches are sticking or belt is shot. Cant remember the specs on belt deflection and width but they are critical to make it run right. Do use a factory belt as they last much longer, yes more costly but much longer life. Good luck with your machine.
