TECATE 4 - MOTOR SWAP
#2
If you are gonna do a conversion than do a good one. If I had the chance to do a conversion it would be this
Tecate-KX500 motor in it
Tecate-KTM 520 motor in it
I have a Mojave that does not run but it could be used as a conversion quad I want 800 for it E-Mail me ltracerx@hotmail.com

It would probably fit with a nominal amount of fabrication, a remote fuel tank (maybe on the top of your helmet), and of course, a 13-1/2" extended swingarm would be necessary to keep the front end down. Some shocks off of a class-5 desert truck would work for suspension. Just don't let anybody over 6'4" ride it for the weekend.
Itracerx, Ya don't know who yer messin' with, here. He works at Boeing, and can build ANYTHING that might fly.
You forgot to add to your tag line, "one nice pair of custom machined headlight mounts"!

I don't either. I rode one this past weekend. Too big, too heavy, too little rpm. Plus, a guy over 6'4" blew it up. I wonder how bad they stuck him when he brought it back?
We all know a T-4 handles better than a Banshee! (especially with a slipping clutch!)
Richie, get back to work! (got your new clutch yet?)
Ltracerx, I was interested in doing the KX500 motor swap, but I'm not brave enough to tackle the project quite yet. Working with a non-counterbalanced 500 presents a whole new set of problems. (can you say cracked frame?) If that obstacle could be overcome, it could be the ultimate dune weapon.

The 500 could be done without the frame cracking by using pieces of some kind of rubber. I have heard of this done many tomes with the CR500 conversions so I am sure it will work on th KX also. I almost bought a Tecate-4 with a 500 in it and the guy said it was very nice and didn't crack the frame at all just had to buy tires more often. Anyway, know anyone that would want my Mojave?
Chicneater, if you are gonna do a 4-stroke conversion, I would like to see the KTM 520 motor in a quad. My neighbor has one and it is one BADA$$ bike, even for a 4-stroke!! I don't really like 4-strokes but if that motor was in a quad I'd probably buy it.
Just my thoughts
