Well it's back in the shop now for the rear boot clamps came lose and allowed the boot to bunch up. All kinds of sand and mud got in to the shaft and u joint so the dealer is replacing all of it. I guess they didnt tighting up the clamps from the factory u mite want to check yours to see if they are tight? I think I did read another person on this fourm say his clamps came lose also.

Hey Zsilverado,
I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow to ask about the adjustment, but can confirm the dealer called Kawie for the info on the test bike and he came back with the adjustment answer.
So its consistant and my dealer is a super guy, well known in this area as honest and customer friendly. I'll post whatever I learn here.
One more thing, I just got the service manual from buykawasaki.com and its rather thorough (similar detail to honda). For this problem however there is boko info on electrical/electronic "learning mode" the Kebc goes through, but nothing relative to an adjustment. The manual also confirms the need to use Mobil 424 in the rear end as it also lubes the rear brake and you CANNOT use motor oil.
Thanks for your earlier reply

Mine clunks too when getting on and off the throttle. It is because the rear end hasn't been shimmed correctly. Get it back to the dealer as soon as possible before you lose some teeth off your rear gear. The whining comes from the converters and engine brake. It is normal.

Kawabunga, I also noticed the clunking noise and asked my dealer about it when I had my first service. He let me take his demo machine for a blast to see if it had the same noise and it did so we decided it was normal and dismissed it. Im just curious what makes you think that the the rear end needs to be re-shimmed. Did you have this done to yours already?
You now have me concerned that this could be an actual problem. I also assume you mean shimming the pinion gear?

The whining you all hear is normal...(It is the small ratio converters & belt spinning at high RPM) No Problem.
The clunking is just all the variables in gear ratios, couplings, gear engagements & backlash adjustments On bevel gears & transmission gears.......A combination of all these items.
If you feel it is excessive....Like something coming apart....Take it to your dealer for a check up.
