Clutch 220 Bayou
#3
It should tell you how to do that in the owners manual if you have one. On the auto honda's there is a nut you loosen and then take a screwdriver to adjust plus or minus whatever you need. My auto hondas seem ok though and have never adjusted them. Chet

to adjust the clutch:
Remove the clutch adjusting cover
2.loosten locknut
3. turn screw all the way clockwise
4. turn screw back all the way counter clock wise.
5. turn screw back clock wise 3/4 to 1 turn.
6. tighten lock nut making sure adjusting screw DOES NOT move.
7. drive quad for a quick test run, making sure clutch shifts properly, and does not slip. Clutch should be firm but not too tight, and shift very smoothly
NOTE: try adjusting the clutch when the engine is cold, my experience with adjusting the clutch haven't always been good because of the cheap metal that they use for the bolts. The bolts are like butter when hot. They strip VERY easily.

Let me add that while my Bayou owner's manual does not include Step 5, I have found it does making shifting much easier. (My manual only reads to turn back in the counter clockwise direction after first turning clockwise.) However, I have found that a 1/4 turn back in the clockwise direction is sufficient.
