Wanted to get thoughts on the electric starting kit (for Mojave) from those who have installed one. I have an '88 and kicking is getting old (as I am). Extra weight is not a problem after throwing a DS around and digging it out of swamps. Noticed Jejjksf3 has one and maybe some others of you. Need input on installation, relability, ergonomics, where to stick the battery, etc.

Thanks in Advance,
Grannie

Its not a bad kit. Its pretty reliable and the Goki people are really helpful. The hardest part with the kit is getting your fly wheel off. It also eliminates your overflow bottle because thats where the starter is located. Not a big concern, just keep your radiator topped off and it will be fine. A couple things I recommend changing from the kit is buy a kill switch from a dirt bike and wire it for your starter button. The Goki switch is OK but is mounted near the handle bar clamps, therefore you have to take your hand off the bars to start it. I also used different clamps for the battery box. The ones supplied don't clamp on the frame quite as tight as they should. Your kick starter stays functional for a back-up. The battery mounts right between the frame in the front bumper area. The batery must be bought seperatly. ($45) I believe ATV Sport Magazine did a how to last month on the kit, they liked it. Also go to my website www.jeffksf.com to see some pictures of my Mojave with the kit installed.
