Good new for 650 owners with choke cable problems
#1
My 650 has been running like a POS for about 3 weeks now due to the choke cable sticking on. I have been waiting ,not so patiently, for a new one to come in but finally got sick of waiting and took matters into my own hands and im glad I did.
To fix the sticking choke cable get yourself a pressure cable luber and some high quality cable lube.
If you remove the left side cover under the front fender you will see where the choke cable splits from one into two pieces. There is a plastic cover which can be seperated to reveal where the cables join up from the carbs. Seperate the two smaller choke cables from the main one and pull them out of the plastic piece. Now you can use the pressure cable luber to lube up the two cables that run tnto the carbs. I worked the cables back and forth while using the luber so I was sure it was getting in there.
Put everything back together and lube the main cable where it joins to the lever.
It now runs just like it did when new.
I sure hope Kawi decides to redesign this cable as the current setup sucks!!!
