Ran the LAKOTA today!!!
#1
Well guys, as you know the long awaited mods arrived. Now thier installed.
The jet kit I installed without removing the choke cable (this looks like a major pain in the ***)but removed every thing else and did the jeetting rite thier.
The pipe was a pain in the *** and intend on talking to super trapp today.
I now have the IDS2, jet kit, K&N filter and 13T sprocket!
It has changed the lakota into a totaly different bike, it flies!!!!!!!!!
Took it on the moto track, and rides very well.
Took it to the enduro track,WOW!!!
Every thing has changed, it has graet bottom end, more than enough top speed, and for some reason the suspention works not better but graet!!
Wheelies, when ever you want!!
You just ride and second and third, don't like that bump, nail the gas and wheelie over them, I'm not kidding. This thing has changed so much I love it.
The weather has changed to about 75 degrees and dry down here, so I installed the 138 main and put the c-clip on the third slot,Perfect. Also note I used twelve disc in the ids2.
I have $308 in mods and got the lakota for $3600 new.
Now for my total invest ment I have one hell of a bike.
As far as moto bikes, ya thiers better, as far as enduro, woods or just all around bike, I believe the lakota is awsome.
I also have to say the semi auto trans is graet for trail riding and DO NOT ever want to go back with a clutch for the trails!!!!

Gaff:
So how did you get the pipe on there. Does it have any leaks around it. I am still trying to mess with it trying to find a way to get it on there without it leaking but I can't. Also how much more speed did you get out of the 13 tooth and how well is your all around power with the pipe.

Man, sounds like you've put some fire into that 300. I also noticed a huge difference when I put on my Supertrapp and rejetted. It really does change the way the whole bike feels. Those mods are definitely money well spent.

Gaff,
I am getting my exhaust, sproket and jet kit in a week. I am planning on installing all of them in a weekend. I am sorry to hear about the supertrapp exhaust problems. I thought since so many people used it before on thier Lakotas and Mojaves, we would have heard of the leak problems before. I hope I have better luck installing mine. I am looking foward to the increased power. My valves need adjusted so I did not go riding this past weekend. I am getting them adjusted this weekend, and hope to do it myself the next time it needs it. Well, let us know what Supertrapp says.

hossman,
I got the pipe on the first time.
what I did was put it all on loosely like they say in the directions, then I noticed the silencer bolt hole landed between the two nuts on the frame. Then i removed the silencer, and megaphone, then worked the megaphone so it was close to the correct angle with the small portion of the megaphones slots not realy covered by the head pipe Then I put on the silencer, once again with not much over lap, then tightening the head pipe nuts.
Then when I went to tighten the head pipe to megaphone clamp, I positioned it over the slots with the nut facing out between the V of the frame and tighten it thier. I just snugged up the silencer clamp and got the bolt just started on the frame.
When you get this far the pipe looks like it's trying to point outward.
I tighten the silencer clamp, then the mounting bolt.
When I started the bike I had a very small leak at the inboard side of the silencer joint, so I tighten it a little more. It still leaked a little but once it heated up it stopped.
When I first road it it had a back fire while coming off the throtle, so I loosened the carb twisted it side ways and turned out the air mixture screw one more turn, no more back firing.
I also had the 13T sprocket for about six weeks and it is much faster, also much faster in each gesr. My forth and fith gear pulled hard without the pipe and jet kit.
Now with the pipe and jet kit I can easaly pull wheelies in the trails in third (with just minor assistance of a bump)
The total handling package changes with the added power.
Now I've heard the 138 main doesn't work for most, if you all remember rite I drilled some holes in my air box. and I would say this is why I can use the 138 main (this should be true for you as well 300cr, except you won't get past134mains in san jose)

I will only have a chance to do it tomorrow. my friend I will ride with tomorrow has a gps but I don't.
I will go off shore thursday am.
I don't know what mods you have 14 but the 13T sprocket is the key. Build off of it.
I can tell you, I do know what it's like to go a quarter mile in the mid eight second range at about 150 mph, the lakota won't do it.
But I will be more than happy to tell you the top speed gains are perfect for this bike.
I originally bought the bike, and like the mojave for the same reason, it's the short wheel base and narrow desighn.
And add a usable power range with this, man!
I know you own a raptor now, and can blow my doors off on the strip, but I don't know bro the trails, you owned one you know!
It's not how much speed you have, it's not how much hp you have, it's how you or how it can be used.
I will try to get some facts for you though.
I talked with the owner of FST (every time I post his name I get kicked off line) and he suggested a 10.5:1 piston ($165) and only stronger springs if I go with a cam!
Also I would like to add, I haven't adj. my valves yet. But I will tomorrow.

Gaff, Did you need to buy a new header gasket or did supertrapp provide a new gasket when you installed your exhuast? Also, Can you tell me if I need to buy any gaskets (head) in order adjust the valves? And lastly, when you installed the jet kit did you need a gasket for the float bowl?. Thanks for the help.Lakota300

300cr,
super trapp suggest to use a header gasket, but says one is not required.
You won't need any gaskets for the carb.
As far as the valve adjustment, I'm doing mine tomorrow and don't believe I will need any.
Take a look at the valve cover from the front of the bike, through the grill. You will see a small cover on the valve cover, thier is one on the aft of the valve cover as well.
This is were you check your valves at.
I've never realy had to replace valve cover gaskets enless the engine has been over heated.
Highflin,
The 13T sprocket is awsome and realy can't be said that you loose bottom end, just that you use all the motors power to do what you normaly do.
The sprocket cost $6.99 at rocky mountain, it takes ten minutes to install and I garrente you will love it.
And the jet kit, get it, don't believe what you heard, it's easy and adds alot to the pipe.
