17hp (+ or - 1 or 2 given the tolerances) is what I have read in the past. At this point it time I must be honest in saying that I can't remember where. I have read this in more than 1 place I can remember that. I've read so many diff. articles and such over the past couple of years I just can't recall. I feel this is a very accurate # though.

Kawasaki used to list their horsepower figures for all models on the parts micro-fiche, but as of 2 or 3 years ago, they switched to "torque" figures.
Your local Kaw. parts guy can look it up in two minutes for you. If you really have to have the horsepower figure as it is stated by Kawasaki, then have him pull up a fiche on a early 90's model 300 Bayou 2wd [not the 4wd].
This will at least give you somewhat of a close figure being that the engines are almost identical.
