I just finished running the lakota. I hit57.3 MPH by GPS. Now keep in mind that stock lakotas run 52 MPH, but I have 20 inch rear tires and it's not a 2001 sport model it is a 1997 Lakota. All I have done to it is a 13t and a jet kit.. I think thats pretty good, especially with a slipping clutch. It hits 50-52 MPH pretty quick after that it stretches out. Tell me what you all think..should I expect more or is this o.k.

Looks good to me! If you when back to the 22" tires you may hit 59 or 60. What kind of rear tires do you have? Did you lose a lot of ground clearance?
Keep in mind you '97 is the same as the '01 Sport. If you've removed you racks and such, you have the same machine. Put a pipe on it too. That would be an interesting combo. I wonder what kind of ratio it would turn out to be by adding 20" tires and the 13 tooth. I wonder if it would be slightly higher than the stock 12 tooth and 22" tires. This may close the gap between just a little to low with the 12 and maybe just a little too high with the 13(just going by your other post Gaff, when you were talking about he small circle track). I also wonder what kind of weight loss(or increase) you may get with going to a Douglas .190 rim instead of stock. Maybe weight shed is the answer from here. It is a little heavy. I can't figure it though. That motor must weigh a ton. I don't see why it is so much heavier than the Mojave. Yeah electric start, but not almost 100 pounds worth. Sorry, rambling.

NOTHING on my Mojave is light!!! I stripped it to the frame 2 weeks ago to paint it, and everything weighed a ton!! If I had half of those parts in aluminum it would be really light. And the motor is deff. not light either! Ohh yea get an aluminum exhaust, handlebars, and remove the mud flaps.

What's up:
The weight you guys are talking about is mostly the motor. An auto clutch weighs a lot more that a manual. That is where the weight is coming from, but there is also a longer swingarm than the mojave's. the electric start with the battery (man those things are heavier than I thought),also if you look closely at both the mojave and Lakota the frame on the Lakota has a few more parts to it. They are the same but it looks like the frame might have a few more bars than the mojave. This is all I can think of some one should try to weigh both motors to see how big of a difference there is, as for the things I listed every little things adds up, so go with as much aluminum as possible like Kawi250 said.
